Raising public awareness

I don't usually comment on things that I feel are too personal. Politics. Religion. World issues. The cost of a cup of Starbucks grande latte. But when I read this morning's headlines, I knew I had to say something about this.

Hilary Swank, a woman who has talent oozing from her pores and enough money in the bank, I'm sure, that she doesn't have to do anything she doesn't feel like doing, kicked off a round-the-world run at the UN. Why? To bring attention to the fact that there are places on this globe where clean drinking water is a luxury.

I give her a lot of credit. How many of us even consider the millions of people who don't have access to clean drinking water? How many of us sip bottled water, clean tap water or fancy, imported sparkling waters without caring at all about those less fortunate?

This morning's headline made me think. A lot. I hope it makes you think about it, too. Maybe if we all give some thought to things like this, and all do our part to make the world a better place, dirty drinking water will be a thing of the past--for everyone.

Today my hat's off to Hilary Swank. She's my hero for the day.

Kudos to Hilary Swank for seeing a problem and doing something about it. To you, too, for bringing the subject up. You have made me think of something I would never have thought of before. Thank you.

Wow, that's really neat! I hadn't heard that she did that. After seeing all these Hollywood starlets that spend their free time shopping for $600 t-shirts, it's nice to see a very talented, gorgeous woman being so selfless.
